Missing Links in the trail system
Missing links can result in a little-used trail system. Here we
point out key gaps in the trail system outlined in other parts of
this plan.
Dish system to Matadero Creek trail connection
This is a key component of the proposed trail system. A service
road already exists along the proposed route.
Arastadero Road gap
There's a short gap between the Arastadero Preserve and Alpine
Road along Arastadero Road. For part of this section, an informal
trail exists along the frontage of private property, but there is
a gap of several hundred feet near the two-lane bridge next to the
Alpine Inn. This gap forces runners and equestrians onto the pavement.
This particular gap has been a nuisance and hazard for trail users
for at least twenty years. Traffic increases in recent years have
made it more of a problem.
